Before I went to go see the Mummies Exhibit, I thought mummies were all wrapped up in pure white cloth. I knew they were in Scooby Doo and other movies and that they would come and eat you alive.
The first thing I learned at the exhibit was that a lot of mummies aren’t wrapped because they got naturally mummified. That means that they might have been touching hot sand in a hot desert or that they were in a very very cold place when they died. That preserves them.
The first part was about Egyptian Mummies, the second part was mostly about South American Mummies and the last part was about European Mummies. I liked the Egyptian part the best because there are a bunch of really cool things like The Book of The Dead. That is a book that families would buy that was really expensive. If they didn’t get buried with one, the people couldn’t get into the afterlife. I also liked seeing the God Anubis on the paintings because I like the show “House of Anubis”.
The mummies from South America were kind of creepy because they still had their hair, and I didn’t like those as much. There were also a bunch of animal mummies like a crocodile, a hyena and a monkey. I liked the monkey the best. The mummies at the end were a whole family from Germany and they were dressed in old fashioned clothes. I thought those were super-creepy because they looked the most like they might stand up and try to get you!
If you know that mummies jump out and chase you and try to eat you alive, you should go see this exhibit. If you are a little kid, like 4 or 5 or 6, you might not want to go. Also, if you are a kid that gets a lot of nightmares you shouldn’t go. I really liked it a lot, though. There is also a really cool mummy gift shop at the end that you’ll really like.
