Last Day of Whale Watching Week
Okay, so this event may require a little driving, but it’s totally worth it! Every spring in late March, gray whales travel northward along the Oregon coast, heading for Alaska. Through the Whale Watching Spoken Here program, volunteers are placed on location to help visitors spot these gentle giants out in the water. So head to the Depoe Bay Whale Watching Center to catch the end of the first spring time surge of gray whales! Free, oregonstateparks.org

Green Screen Fun
Mr. David’s School of Film is hosting some really awesome classes over this Spring Break. This Friday, make sure you’re little film buffs catch this brand new class on using a Green Screen! Students will learn basic Green Screen magic and create short movies and photos that they can share with family and friends. Family Day at Holladay Park
Holladay Park is the place to be this Saturday! Portland Parks and Recreation, Holladay Park Partnership and the Lloyd Center have all teamed up to bring you a series of fantastic community events. Stayin’ Alive: Winter Survival Shelters
Even though we’re coming out of the throes of winter, it never hurts to get some winter survival skills under our belts. This family-friendly course will teach you and the gang how to build a winter weather-proof shelter with a few basic skills. 37th Annual Trillium Festival
This is the weekend to get out and enjoy the beauty of flowering trillium in bloom. Friends of Tryon Creek present the 37th Annual Trillium Festival at the Tryon Creek State Natural Area on Terwilliger Blvd. Get out in the fresh air and hike the trails, where you can stop by the Roving Stations for brief presentations on science and natural history.
