Sunset High School Presents: Mary Poppins
Under the direction of Sunset High’s theater director, James Farmer, and choir director, Christopher Rust, this all-ages musical will surely delight. Set in England, 1910, we are introduced to the Banks family, whose troublesome children can’t seem to keep a nanny around. Until a very special young woman, named Mary Poppins, shows up. A long-standing family favorite, the story of Mary Poppins truly comes to life in this production, with a live orchestra, a flying nanny and dancing chimney sweeps! $8-10, shstheatre.com

Beauty and the Beast Movie Release Party
I bet more than a few little kiddos you know have been excited for the new, live action Beauty and the Beast movie that’s coming out this month. Red Yarn’s Album Release Show: Born in the Deep Woods
Yeeeee-haw, it’s a new Red Yarn album! Get ready for another album full of fantastic, folky, original tunes from one of the most beloved, Portland-based family bands. Born in the Deep Woods is Red Yard’s fourth album, and it’s the final album of the Deep Woods trilogy where Red Yarn has expertly explored the musical genres that have grown out of American Folk music. Buckman Art Show & Sell
This weekend is the 27th Annual Buckman Art Show & Sell. Held at Buckman Art Focus Elementary School, this Portland tradition will host over 140 artists and craftspeople, with great food, music and dancing to boot. Art in all styles and media will be on display and for sale, from seasoned artists as well as young, emerging talents. Horton Hatches the Egg
Love puppets and Dr. Seuss? Well, then you won’t want to miss this show at the Puppet Museum! Puppeteer Emily Alexander will delight you and your little ones with her performance of Dr. Seuss’s classic Horton Hatches the Egg. Horton agrees to watch over lazy Maisie Bird’s egg while she goes on vacation, but after 100 days, Horton and the egg are captured and put in the circus!
