For many Portland area families, Liepold Farms Fall festival is an annual tradition. This year the Liepold’s festival theme is “It’s A Wild Life” based on their recent acquisition of a large collection of life sized animals. Before coming to Liepold’s farm, the animals, constructed from various materials like cement and wood lived with a simple man who collected them throughout his lifetime. They lived on his land and became his friends. Of the festival and inclusion of the animals, Marcia Liepold says, “We have tried to make Liepold’s Fall Festival an event for all ages to enjoy. We have an estate of life sized animals staged though out the corn maze. It makes for an adventurous and fun journey through the corn maze.”
Liepold says the animals are amazing not only for their size, but in how life like they are. The festival offers a rare opportunity for people to see life like animals that they may have never seen before. It’s not every day you can stand within 100 feet of an elk. And while these animals aren’t real they will seem likely so to a kiddo. Liepold also assures that they have taken measures to create friendly scenes so as not to frighten the youngest of corn maze walkers.
If the animals aren’t reason enough to pay a visit to Liepold farms, you can head out to pick a pumpkin and enjoy their famous caramel corn or a hand dipped caramel apple. Plus, don’t forget your camera. Photo opportunities abound on the farm with beautiful flowers, a hay ride, pony rides, the Corn Bin, and an improved hay maze that is larger and a bit more difficult than in years past.
Liepold Farms is open daily from 9am to 5pm with some late nights. They hold special events throughout the month of October and will be doing some evening fundraising by offering a few concerts with Amy Keys. Please visit their website, www.liepoldfarms.com or call 503-957-6425 for more information.
