We’ve been driving by Dawson Park for the last year, waiting for the park to reopen. Yesterday, on our way to Spielwerk Toys, we saw that the park had reopened, and realized we hadn’t driven by in a while, because apparently it reopened last summer. Either way, we stopped by and had a blast. Maybe it was the January sun or the soft, mulched astroturf surface, but we appreciated all of the new equipment and the kiddo didn’t want to leave because she was having so much fun!
What struck me was how the history of the park has been incorporated into the design by installing some pretty nifty exhibits that display stories about the neighborhood and how the park brought the community together. The park has been around since the 1920s when it used to host small circuses and traveling medicine shows (you can ogle over the gorgeous cupola on the gazebo!) We can’t wait to return in the summer to visit the water feature.
Good to know: Great and safe space for little kids and those with sensory issues. Don’t miss out on reading about the history of the park! N Stanton St & Williams Avenue
