Chill Out at Oregon Hot Springs this Spring Break
You may still be feeling remnants of winter, but Spring Break (Mar 21-25 for most schools) is just around the corner. To get you pumped and ready, we’ve got a Spring Break blog series for you now so you can plan ahead!
Looking to get back to nature in every sense of the word? Why not go for a soak in one of Oregon’s many hot springs? You’re sure to relax, especially if you’re a-okay with nudity. At many hot springs, clothing is optional. All of these hot springs are kid friendly, but make sure your little ones understand that soakers are looking to relax, not play Marco Polo.
Escape the outside world at Breitenbush Hot Springs, a truly off-the-grid retreat. Go for a few days and stay in one of their cabins, attend a conference, eat from their delicious vegan cafeteria, or just stay for the day to enjoy the hot springs pools, tiled tub, and steam sauna. Warning: no Wi-Fi or cell phone reception.
If you’re looking for a more rugged adventure, check out Paulina Lake Hot Springs. Hike, camp in nearby back-country campgrounds, and dig out your own soaking pool at the edge of the lake, sitting in the collapsed crater of Newbery Volcano, or sit in one that has already been dug and edged with logs.
Terwilliger Hot Springs, also known as Cougar Hot Springs, this gorgeous spring is an hour east of Eugene. Five soaking pools descend in graduating steps down a ravine. The hottest one is up top and they get progressively cooler as you go down. Expect nudity.
If you’re looking for something less au natural and more predictable, Kah-Nee-Ta Resort and Spa has everything you want, including hotel rooms, restaurants, and tons of activities in which everyone is most likely to be clothed. Wherever you end up going, here’s to soaking up a relaxing Spring Break!
