back to school bites

With school back in session, my family is finding that meal planning is more important than ever. While we have our usual favorites in rotation, it’s always nice to have new tastes and new ideas to mix things up. We’ve tried many food delivery boxes over the years, but Acme Farms has become a favorite in our household.

Acme Farms, located in beautiful Bellingham, WA, has a variety of options for omnivore, pescatarian, veggie and vegan palates as well. Their focus is on local and farm fresh and they put particular emphasis on also supporting non-farming local food purveyors and giving back to the community as well. They offer a wide variety of curated boxes, including Surf & Turf, Gluten & Dairy Free and produce boxes, in addition to rotating add-ons. While they also have the option to build your own box, we chose the Kid’s Box, which includes all you need to put together several kid-friendly meals or snacks. Our box had the makings for Cheesy Egg and Tomato Muffin Sandwiches, Rainbow Veggie Wraps with Hummus, Beecher’s frozen Mac & Cheese, fresh stone fruit and a mix to make chocolate chip granola bars.

My kids absolutely loved helping with these recipes and the quality of the food was second to none. I love that their packaging is minimal and that they also will take back the packaging when they return for your next delivery. The delivery day for the Portland area is currently Tuesday and my kids decided to order a special box for their dad’s birthday the following week, which happened to be on a Tuesday. Fresh bagels and bacon were a welcome birthday treat for a fella who hails from Bellingham and misses the flavors of home!

Currently, they offer delivery to the greater Whatcom/Skagit County area, greater Portland, Seattle and Las Vegas regions. With such a wide variety of box options and add-ons the pricing varies, but the Kid’s Box is $55 +$7 shipping. theacmebox.com
